ABSTRAK :
The proliferation of web hosting services, especially in Indonesia make prospective customers should be careful in choosing a hosting. Number of bargains that are available often makes consumers particularly an inexperienced about the intricacies of web hosting become confused and even made a mistake in choosing. PING (Packet Internet Gopher) is a utility program that can be used to check network connectivity technology based Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol. If the web address visited is not accessible as fast as usual, on the internet this can happen for many reasons, because the path through which the Internet was indeed a full or a server from the web address being accessed by many people that it takes time for the server to process requests .
The research method used in making this application is the method of observation (observation) and Bibliographical Method. The program used is Visual Basic, while for the Internet network connection using Visual Basic is the main component INET components.
Based on experiments performed, Tracert investigated the application can analyze the network connection, to know how many hops that should be spent on delivery of data packets in progress and may track the presence of a server location, based on the IP Address were detected. With the information obtained through the tracing will be able to help as a material consideration in determining / selecting a hosting company that will be made as an option.
