Fluid Bed Dryer is a machine that works by drying system for light weight material, such as powder and granular. Observation and calculation were conducted in order to choose the right motor power that would be applied to the machine. This continues research was conducted to get the data for FBD (Fluid Bed Dryer) machine. This research aimed to find the pressure loss in machines and suitable and economic power for motor so that the best and efficient performance of the machine was achieved.
The observation was conducted in Konimex Ltd for a month. It included recording and literature review in order to calculate the motor power needed, such as the pressure loss of AHU (Air Handling Unit), the pressure loss of the machine glatt, the pressure drop in the blower and the pressure drop in the pipes.
The result of investigating and calculating the pressure loss of FBD (Fluid Bed Dryer) machine with 0.4 and 0.25 meter diameters, 162 meter pipe, 12 elbows, and 6000 m³/h machine capacity was 6142,8 Pa blower motor power as a result the machine saved 4 kW power while previously it saved only 22 kW.
