ABSTRAK :
Galvanis plate is widely used in the production of muffler. The plate is used because it is not susceptible to corrosion. Corrosion is destruction or degradation of metal from reaction with a corrosive environment. One of variables affecting the quality of corrosion resistance is welding foller variation. Therefore, a testing is done to determine the effect of variations in the oxyacetylene to the welding corrosion rate and tensile strength.
Welding was conducted in a producer of muffler that uses oxyacetylene welding and galvanis plate as raw materials as well as low carbon steel wire and galvanis pieces as filler.
The testing results of oxyacetylene welding filler variation in rate corrosion of galvanis plate with a variety of welding filler pieces of galvanis increased 28% and at welding galvanis plate with a variety of wires filler increased 61%. While the tensile strength of the welding in galvanis plate with pieces of galvanis as the filler decreased 3,2% and in a galvanis plate welding using wire filler decreased 3,8%.
